Fall Protection 101:  Federal Compliance

A 3-D VIRTUAL REALITY TRAINING CLASS

Dennington Safety Gear (Dennington) is committed to providing the highest quality fall protection harnesses and leading the industry with innovative designs and equipment that keep workers safe.  For the past ten years Dennington has delivered innovative solutions that address many of the needs associated with improving performance, productivity, and morale, while reducing risks of workers in small and large organizations. Using 3-D technology, Dennington can now deliver high-impact training experiences for its clients that can result in increased performance and reduced health and safety risks for employees, which has translated into significant cost savings for employers.

In keeping with tradition; Dennington is now offering Fall Protection 101:  Federal Compliance – A 3D Virtual Reality Training Class..  In this class you will learn about the federal fall protection standard and how to keep yourself and your employees in compliance while using fall protection.  OSHA compliance officers are already familiar with 29 CFR 1926.502(d)(16) and this class will give you the advantage of knowing what they’re looking for before they show up.  This is not training you’ve received in the past nor has it ever been offered in any form. This is new material which will teach you how to always remain in federal compliance.

 Background

In researching new and innovative ways to train, with retention being our primary concern, it was found that people learn best when they use perceptual learning styles. Perceptual learning styles are sensory based. The more sensory channels possible in interacting with a training source, the better chance that many students can learn from it are.  According to Dale, instructors should design instructional activities that build upon more real-life experiences. He illustrated this with research when he developed the "Cone of Learning" - which states that after two weeks we remember only 10% of what we read, but we remember 90% of what we do.

Dale’s research has shown that to maximize message retention and change attitudes and behaviors, learners must experience a simulation that comes as close to real-life as possible and that is what Dennington has done with its 3D Training film.

Benefits of this approach

By adding a 3D experiential component to the Dennington Fall Protection training program, trainees will effectively be able to see, hear, and experience the real life consequences of a fall as if it were really happening. Unlike any other training methods, this approach will enable and inspire viewers to change and adapt their attitude and perception towards the use of fall protection harnesses and help them clearly understand the consequences of non-compliance.  This approach has proven to increase efficiency and effectiveness vs. traditional approaches to training.

Positive safety training is delivered in a manner that inspires a significant change in participant’s attitudes and motivates them to take ownership of, and accountability for, their personal choices. The result is a lasting impact that will help our clients dramatically reduce work-related injuries.

"Educational simulations will be in widespread use by leading instructors within5 years

and will eventually change education as much as textbooks and motion pictures."

- Clark Aldrich, author of "Simulations and the Learning Revolution"
